About Coach Omar

Coach Omar Casamayor knows what it takes to compete at the professional level — because he's lived it. A switch-hitting second baseman born in Palmira, Venezuela, Omar spent his playing career in the Baltimore Orioles organization, working his way through the GCL Orioles, the Bluefield Orioles, the Aberdeen IronBirds, and the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Over his minor league career he slashed a .296 batting average across 925 at-bats, demonstrating the consistent contact and on-base approach that now defines his coaching philosophy. The same discipline and attention to detail that kept him competing at a professional level is what he now pours into every player he works with at Casamayor Academy.
